This project is part of the Global Initiative to Eliminate Lead Paint, carried out in close collaboration with and support from the International Pollutants Elimination Network (IPEN), of which Together to Protect Human and Environment Association is an active member.
In partnership with the Iraqi Ministry of Health and Environment and with support from IPEN, the association conducted a study to assess lead levels in oil-based paints available in the Iraqi market. The study involved collecting 38 random paint samples representing 12 brands—5 locally produced and 7 imported.
The results revealed that 71% of the analyzed samples exceeded the permissible limit of 90 parts per million (ppm) for lead in paint. This finding underscores the urgent need for stricter regulations and enforcement measures to protect public health and the environment
